Senator Niello’s Bill to “Ditch the Switch” to Be Heard at Tuesday’s Senate Energy Committee Hearing

Multi-state Coalition Proposes Making Standard Time Permanent with Senate Bill 1413

Senate Bill 1413, introduced by Senator Roger Niello (R-Fair Oaks), proposes to end the biannual clock changes and make Permanent Standard Time the year-round standard in California. The bill, supported by a multi-state coalition and reflecting a growing public sentiment against the disruption caused by switching times, will be presented in the Senate Energy, Utilities, and Communications Committee hearing tomorrow.

The push for Permanent Standard Time over Daylight Saving Time is supported by evidence suggesting that standard time aligns more closely with human circadian rhythms. Watch the video testimony from Jay Pea, president of Save Standard Time.
